Midi interface(s)

Hi Pancio,

Oh that would be great. XL or XE version is both okay for me. It really does not matter a lot to me.

If your colleague could make a few units for me, I would be more than welcome. If you know more, please let me know. I am ready to pay money, so let me know how we can do this.

If I remember correctly I built 20 years ago a SIO version of a Midi interface. It was with an OPTO-COUPLER component. It worked pretty well, but I lost my interest a bit because I had not much space in my room to have all kind of MIDI equipment connected to the Atari 8bit. Your device has a sound chip onboard which is great. I could use a way smaller keyboard then.

Well it is all very interesting.

Keep me updated please! Your invention is amazing. I really think many people will be interested, so perhaps you should contact Panos from Greece (you can find him on Atari Age) he has done amazing things for me in the past. So perhaps this is an idea?

Greetings, Marius from TheNetherlands.

Hi Marius,

The MIDIcar is the same simply like SIO-MIDI device you had twenty years ago. Only one important difference, it's not using SIO for communication, so you have more options for data input/output. Maybe one additional feature is very interesting.. TTL SERIAL which can be use for very speed communication between Atai and PC.. or other Atari :-)

According to MIDI modules... trehe is a few different modules based on the same DreamBlaster's connector which can be used with MIDIcar. The most popular is S2 (the cheapest one) and X2GS - my favorite, but I checked others too like CrystalSound. E-wave and Q-wave... trust me.. X2GS sounds best!

I found Panos on the AtariAge but unfortunately his profile is not active since 2011. Are you pretty sure he is able to do what you want?

At the beginning I will make a few devices for declared on ABBUC users and check possibilities for bigger volumes. You should know MIDIcar is hand made and my eyes are limited :-)

Are you interested to own two various MIDIcars - one XL and one XL for now? I'll inform you when more pieces will assembled and ready to sell.

Best Regards,

Hi Pancio.

From me two questions:

  1. Did you eventually find our contact in Greece on AtariAge? SantosP?

  2. Is there already something known about when I can order? I am very interested. XE or XL PCB's is not an issue for me. I would like to order 5 of those devices, but I can imagine you do not have that much (in stock)?

I hope you have some (good) news for me! I am very interested!

Greetings, Marius

Hi,

I found SantosP on AA but I haven't opportunity to contact with him... I'm not sure he is interested with MIDIcar at all.

Of course, you may buy MIDIcar... I've assembled four CART/ECI version with case and one PBI without case... I propose to change the communication channel to email for more details.

Best Regards,
